Overview

The Dent du Géant (The Giant’s Tooth) is a spectacular granite spire standing at the junction between France and Italy.
Accessed via the Torino Hut and the Glacier du Géant, it combines glacier travel with steep, airy rock climbing on excellent granite.
The route follows the famous Normal Route (South West Face), aided by fixed ropes on the steeper sections, leading to one of the most rewarding 4000 m summits in the Alps.

Ability Level

  • Suitable for fit, experienced climbers with prior alpine and rock experience.

  • Comfortable with using crampons and moving efficiently on easy snow and rock terrain.

  • Recommended climbing grade: up to 5a (5.5 US / 4 UK).
